Jen Carter

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, USA

Dr. Jen Carter’s wonderful experience in the sport of swimming led her to dive into a sport psychology career. At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Jen is the Lead Sport Psychologist at the Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute and Clinical Associate Professor at Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. In this role, she provides mental health and performance psychology counseling to athletes, sports medicine patients, clients with body image issues, and individuals in the community. Jen is a counseling psychologist with specialties in sport psychology and eating disorders. She strives to help adults and adolescents achieve peak performance in multiple life domains.

Esra Kupeli Akkol

Gazi University, Turkey

Prof.Dr. Esra KÜPEL? AKKOL was born in Turkey. She got her Bachelor of Science degree in Faculty of Pharmacy, Gazi University, Turkey and got her Ph.D. degree in Pharmacognosy Department from the University of Gazi. She is currently Professor in the Gazi University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacognosy. She served in many capacities in her field including service on several editorial boards and numerous review committees for journals such as Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Journal of Pharmacy Sciences, The Internet Journal of Herbal and Plant Medicine, International Journal of Genuine Traditional Medicine, Advances in Pharmacological Sciences, Evidence Based Complementary Alternative Medicine and The Open Pain Journal. She has conducted 48 projects and 15 thesis in Gazi University. She has 180 published articles in SCI International Journals, 13 articles in National Journals and 10 chapters in International books.

Ana Maria Sanchez-Perez

University Jaume I, Spain

Ana María studied Biochemistry at Valencia University. She did her Masters in Bristol, with a scholarship from British Council and Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo. Later she completed her PhD with scholarship from the University of Bristol (1993-97). As a postdoctoral, Ana spent 3 years at the University of California San Francisco (California, USA). In 2000, she moved to the University of Padova (Italy). From 2002 to 2011, she worked as a researcher at the CIPF research institute (Valencia, Spain). She joined the University of Jaume I (Castellon, Spain) in September 2012 and coordinates the Neurobiotechnology research group since 2013. Ana has published over 40 papers and maintain international collaborations. She is a member of the editorial board of Frontiers in Nutrition.

Emil Mukhamejanov

Emil Mukhamejanov - doctor of medical sciences, professor. In 1964-1972, he worked in the Institute of Physiology, responsible for the regulation of muscle contraction. In 1974-1991, he worked in the Institute of nutrition, responsible for the regulation of energy metabolism and metabolic diseases of balanced diet coupled Developed metabolic model with effects of toxic compounds, physical activity and dietary factors. Has developed specialized nutrition products for athletes and for the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases. Currently working in the Scientific Center of anti-infective disorders, develop approaches of reducing the negative impact of drugs. I am a scientific consultant at International Institute of Gerontology, Almaty.

Baher Effat

National Research Centre, Egypt

Baher Effat is a Research Professor of Food and Dairy Microbiology, National Research Centre, Egypt. Over 36 years of experience in Food and Dairy Bacteriology, he shared and supervised over than 6 Master and Ph.D Thesis in Food and Dairy sciences and more than 62 scientific publications in food and dairy microbiology, functional dairy products , probiotics and propionic acid bacteria and pathogenic bacteria and in Food and Dairy Products. He has shared in national and international programs and projects. He joined many international conferences and workshop, in addition to scientific activities. In addition he awarded for CAS-TWAS Visiting Scholar Fellowship From 03 Aug., 2006 to 31 October 2006.Training of young researchers and lecturers on many science-related subjects; including courses for: Microbiological Analysis of Food, Control of Bacteria, Contamination during Food Process and Isolation and Identification of Microorganisms. He is a member of the Editorial Board of several international journals. He also served as a member of the Organizing Committee in International Congresses.

Walter J. Pories

East Carolina University, USA

Walter J. Pories, MD, FACS, Professor of Surgery, Biochemistry and Kinesiology at East Carolina University (ECU). After graduation from Wesleyan University as an art major, he received his MD with Honor at the University of Rochester where he also completed his residency in general and cardiothoracic surgery. He was the first to report that zinc was an essential element not only for plants but also for animals and man. A pioneer in the development of bariatric surgery, he was the first to document that the gastric bypass produces rapid, full and durable remission of Type2 diabetes. His primary current research interest with over three decades of NIH funding is the pursuit of the molecular mechanisms underling that disease. He established and directed three cancer centers: at the University of Rochester, Case-Western Reserve and East Carolina University. He also served as President of the Society for Environmental Health and Geochemistry, the Association of Program Directors in Surgery, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as the 2nd Vice President of the American College of Surgeons and Vice President of the Southern Surgical Association as well as editor-in- chief and associate editor of several journals. His multiple awards include the Oxford Cup, the highest national award of Beta Theta Pi and the Presidential Medal by The Obesity Society. He retired from the US Army with the rank of Colonel after 24 years of service with the Legion of Merit and a Presidential Citation for the performance of the regiment under his command in the first Gulf War. For fun, he publishes cartoons and tends to his farms that house cattle, goats, poultry deer and even a family of bears by the Tar River. He is married to Dr. Mary Ann Rose, Professor of Nursing. They have six children.

Alex Gandsas

Anne Arundel Medical Center, USA

Alex Gandsas, MD, MBA, is the Medical Director of Anne Arundel Medical Center’s (AAMC) Weight Loss and Metabolic Surgery Program, Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program and the Director of the Bariatric Fellowship Program. He personally performs more than 500 bariatrics cases annually, ranging from standard procedures, such as the sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, to more complex revisional surgeries. Prior to joining AAMC, He worked at the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Medicine Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) where he was a professor and served as chair of the Department of Surgery, program director of the UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine General Surgery Program and chief of surgery at Kennedy University Hospital in Stratford, N.J. He also served as division chief of Bariatrics & Minimally Invasive Surgery at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and an associate professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He published numerous scientific articles in general surgery, surgical education and telemedicine. Currently, his research efforts focus on obesity surgery, as well as the use of emerging technologies in minimally invasive surgery, telemedicine and surgical education. He is a board-certified surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is actively involved in the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
